Returning to Special Area 2 was a natural move for brothers Lee and Clayton Quashnick. Raised on a farm minutes from Hanna, they are 4th generation farmers who are proud to carry on the century-old legacy of their family. Both Lee and Clayton left after high school to further their education – Lee in Land Reclamation and Clayton became a Land Agent. Their combined education and agricultural background added a flare to their farming, and they started up Quashnick Vegetation Management Inc. in 2008. Beginning as a service for the oil and gas industry, they diversified into more areas they were particularly interested in. QVM now has a wide range of services to provide – from industrial vegetation control, earth works, aerial photography and reclamation.
Lee can’t live without the wide openness of the Special Areas and really appreciates the slower lifestyle. His advice for anyone considering a rural lifestyle: “Don’t ever second guess any opportunity a person may have to work or live in a rural area. With hard work and determination, it is still possible to be successful in a rural atmosphere!”
