Walker Dillabough grew up in Acadia Valley but spent years living in cities before choosing to return home. With a flexible job that doesn’t require an office, Walker and his wife saw the perfect opportunity to raise their family close to loved ones—and within a strong, connected community. From rekindling old friendships to building new ones, his wife has also found her place, becoming involved and embraced by others in the Valley.
With a low cost of living, supportive neighbours, and countless ways to get involved, Walker says it best: “I don’t know why anyone would want to live anywhere else.”
This is part of the Return to Rural series—real stories of living, working, and thriving in Alberta’s Special Areas.
